Changes Coming to Ruhe Liebe

Good afternoon, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well and had a great weekend! I know I’ve been enjoying the warmer weather so much – I’m so ready for the days I can edit poolside without freezing to the core!

We’re already almost halfway through the year – which means this month came time for evaluating my business and how I would like to run it moving forward. While most of the time, a lot of the changes I make are on the back end; quietly trying to improve certain aspects of my business to ensure all of my Clients are thoroughly taken care of while working with me. This time around, I’ve done a lot of thinking into the specifics of the actual sessions I’d like to take in the future.

You know the drill – grab a seat, your favorite coffee or tea, and let’s dive into where my mind is at together when it comes to the future of Ruhe Liebe Photography.

No More Mini-Sessions

Mini-Sessions are truly some of the best ways to connect and reconnect with clients – returning or new – without the hefty price tag. However, I find that Mini-Sessions and I do not tend to mix well. As a Photographer who also has anxiety, I’ve noticed that sessions like these always make me feel rushed and very often leave me feeling like I didn’t do my clients any real favors for the money they spent. The goal of my brand is to help people feel at home, and I want their experience to reflect that goal. To me, that means more time during sessions, and acting with more planning and intention during those sessions as well. Moving forward, I will no longer be offering Mini-Sessions as you’re used to seeing them and will only be offering hour-long(+) sessions. This will also help me keep pricing and timing simple for my current and future clients.

Nowadays, I know there’s becoming less and less ability for people to have the extra funds to invest in a Photography session. While I do need to make a living like anyone else, I want to bring as much of the change that I know I would have loved to see as a client, so here’s my plan for the future

  • Ruhe Liebe will be replacing Seasonal Mini-Sessions with Hourly Creative Sessions that Clients will have the opportunity to schedule at a discounted rate. These sessions will still be geared towards specific Holidays or Seasons, but extended to an hour to allow for more creative flow between Clients (especially helpful for parents of small children).
  • Because the intention of this is to allow more time for Clients and their families to get acquainted and comfortable with posing, please keep in mind that this will only slightly increase your guaranteed number of photos in your finished Gallery. The goal here is quality, and if quantity increases too – that’s great! As usual, you won’t be charged for any additional photos that were taken or delivered above the minimum guaranteed.
  • These sessions will be discounted to reflect the likely lack of accommodation Ruhe Liebe Photography will be able to provide for these sessions. Because RLP does not have its own studio (yet!), these sessions will be held at local studios that feature seasonal backdrops and settings. While this is usually the ‘norm for Mini-Sessions, it does mean that I won’t have as much freedom when it comes to styling the space or accepting reschedules. Plus, everyone deserves some cutie Holiday fam photos no matter what your budget is!

Pulling Back on Full-Day Events

This one was a tough one for me, but I know that it’s what’s best for myself and Ruhe Liebe Photography at this time…

If you’ve been following my journey for awhile, you’ll know that the first time I was booked for a full-day event – I cried. Imposter Syndrome is something that has effected me pretty hard since the day I stepped into Solo Photography, and I truly cannot explain how much it means to me when a Client shows that they trust me with some of their biggest days, milestones, and accomplishments in their lives. Like many new Photographers out there, I dreamed of working the fancy, upscale, full-day events. As I’ve gotten further into my craft, I’ve realized that may not be what I was really after. At least not in the way I had thought.

In order for me to truly give my clients the absolute best version of myself moving forward, I have decided to cut down on the number of full-day events I take on per year. Here’s a little bit of what that will look like;

  • Ruhe Liebe Photography will only be taking on one (1) full-day event, every other month. This will allow more time for editing and to ensure that those Clients receive the best version of their Gallery possible.
  • Ruhe Liebe Photography will continue accepting 2nd-shooter opportunities with no limit, so long as it does not put any strain on current projects.
  • In the future, more focus will be placed on regular, hourly shoots and more intimate events such as birthday parties, elopements, social events, business meetings, etc.

Wrap-Up

My hope is that these changes will allow me to spend more one-on-one time with Clients and making sure their final Galleries reflect their vision and my quality standards to the absolute best of my ability – yes, even if something were to “come up”. The goal of my brand is to make you all feel at home, and I’m starting where the heart is. The heart of your brand. The heart of your marriage. The heart of your lives. In the every day moments, big milestones, and maybe even surrounded by your favorite people.

For my fellow Photographers and event Vendors – I have something coming for you, too! Stay tuned for next week’s blog to hear about an exciting new addition coming to Ruhe Liebe. (;
