February 5th marks a month since the launch of my rebrand. Let’s recap it all together as I go over the shoots I did in the month of January, as well as everything I learned and experienced leading up to and in-between!
January 1st-7th ; Before and After the Rebrand
Saying goodbye to 2025 was bittersweet for me. Not only was it the year I married my best friend (and occasional business partner), it was also the year I officially started my solo journey in Photography. I was ready for the change, though, and so excited for the future.
By the 1st of the year, I was already a couple of days into the process of designing my new website with Bostron Design Studio. Now, we were getting into the visual design side of the process and let me tell you – I was having a BLAST. I live for things like this; planning, organizing, making things match and look pretty. I’ll eat all that stuff up with my bare hands. No utensils required. If you’re interested in reading more about the process leading up to my rebrand – check out my previous blog post, “A WEEK SINCE MY REBRAND“!
Launch day was incredibly fulfilling – I got so much positive feedback from my followers, clients, and community – and it truly meant so much to me. To be honest, by the time this day came around I had spent so much time working on all the stuff for it that the self-doubt and imposter syndrome was really starting to hit me. The what-if’s that came after spending this much energy, time, and money on something I really couldn’t show to anyone were terrifying. Yet my community really came through (’cause of course they did) and reminded me of my purpose and what I bring to the table, and that was so reassuring for me.
January 2026 ; End-of-Month Recap
The beginning of January was filled with all things REBRAND, along with a shoot with one of my new favorite ladies – Amanda (amndapaige on IG) at The Ginger Birdie studio here in Winston-Salem. We walked into the session with a vision board of moody, editorial photos with her as my model. We definitely got those, with some other cool shots on the side too. Honestly, it really just turned into a girly chit-chat session with the occasional pause to switch up outfits or posing. It’s fun sessions like these, though, that remind me of why I do this in the first place. The connection aspect of Photography and getting to meet so many fun, kind people is top tier.
Mid-January was spent going over and finalizing all of the little details of my Rebrand like posting updated pricing and business goals on my socials, designing new business cards, and doing all of the not-so-fun things like switching my brand name on what felt like literally every website under the sun (& I’m almost positive I’m still missing something somewhere). Not as entertaining but will definitely keep you busy. In case that wasn’t enough, I took this as my chance to also finally update my last name on everything, too. I got married in September of last year and yes, it took me until mid-January to get that done. Side note: If you’ve ever lived in Houston, Texas you’d understand my procrastination behind going to the DMV. Side, Side note: I got there before they opened and my name was still never called. Anyways..
End of January was *supposed* to mean a Branding Shoot with La’Breeze Luxury – a luxury mobile charcuterie bar owned by local entrepreneur Dionne Daniels. The session was set to be in Raleigh, North Carolina, but we were instead locked-in by the wonderful snow and ice storm that paid us a visit the weekend of the 23rd. Instead, I dragged my sister and brother-in-law outside for a cutesy-“cozy” photoshoot before the snowfall came back around. I had so much fun having the practice with posing, with people who aren’t necessarily a paid client of mine. I realized that approaching every session with the mindset of just having fun and being creative (within the scope of the shoot, obvi) will probably help my anxiousness with working with newer clients. I’ve spent pretty much all time in-between updating old galleries to better match my new brand identity.
I admit it’s not technically the end of the month yet, but with only 5 more days and being stuck in the middle of a storm from Princess Elsa herself I’m not too sure we’ll be doing much else. I look forward to the Spring and Summer months more than I could really say. I don’t know about you, but I much prefer the lush green grass and golden sunshine.
I can’t wait to see what February brings to the table (keep your eyes peeled for a Valentine’s Day mini-session post!) and hopefully that means being able to safely leave our homes and keep the feeling in our toes! Stay safe, and stay warm.
Talk soon!
